We invite you to join us at Zero Waste Sooke’s next Repair Café: a volunteer-led community initiative that educates residents on how to repair items instead of tossing things out.
Residents of Sooke and surrounding areas are encouraged to bring their smaller broken items to fix them on the spot with the help of our voluntary fixers. Please know, while we will attempt to fix all items brought in, we may be limited to what we can fix depending on the volunteers skills and expertise on the day.
Event Details:
Date : Sunday, January 19, 2025
Time: Between 10:00-2:00pm
Location: Downstairs at the Sooke Community Hall
See the Zero Waste Sooke’s Facebook page for news & updates
Does it cost?
We kindly request donations to support the on-going administration of this initiative. We hope to have a repair cafe every three months in the community.
What should I bring?
Please only bring one or two items which can be easily carried through the door. Large items such as ovens or washing machines will not be accepted.
You also don’t have to bring tools, but if your item requires a light bulb, battery, a new cord or a new plug, please bring these supplies with you. However, if you’re not sure our volunteer fixers will help to identify any suppliers needed.
Can I leave the item and come back?
It is not ideal, our goal is to teach you so you can repair it yourself, and maybe one day share your new skills and knowledge to others.
What if it can’t be fixed?
Well at least we tried!
Our volunteers will also inform you of the many available recycling programs in the community or nearby areas for your item, if available.
Want to get involved?
Zero Waste Sooke could use more handy volunteers in the area to be a fixer. If interested, please email us at zerowastesooke1@gmail.com for more information
